The
Emperor and the Seed

| One morning recently, my
attention was drawn to a dandelion seed being blown along
by the wind. It landed on some stones. But it
didn't stay there for more than a few seconds because a
gust of wind came and blew it high up into the air
again. Then it landed on brick tiles. Again
it didn't stay there for long because the wind picked it
up and carried it away. The Seed (that which has
Life) was specially designed so that it would keep going
with the Wind; waiting until it was deposited into
the right environment of moist soil to settle in and
germinate and grow... Later that same day one of my sisters sent me the following story which is believed to have originated from the Church in China, another version of this story is The Emperor and the Bride: THE EMPEROR AND THE SEED An
emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was
time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of
his assistants or his children, he decided on something
different. He called the young people in the kingdom
together one day. He said, It is time for me to
step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to
choose one of you. Then the emperor said, One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds which would not grow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new emperor! "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and do not return there, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth; it shall NOT return to Me void without producing any effect, but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:8-11)
